Teacher: Lu Wing  Introduction Video
Credits: 2

This course is a study of Leviticus focusing on God's original plan for worship, service, obedience and holiness which is the priestly calling, hence the reason for the Hebrew title for Leviticus: "And He called". Three sections comprise Leviticus: Sacrifices, Priesthood and Purity. A scientific basis will be laid in approaching the technical aspects of the book. The priest's role was "to protect the holiness of God within the camp". Being called into the ministry, we present ourselves as living sacrifices holy and acceptable to God (Romans 12:1-2); we represent God as ambassadors (build a bridge) to a lost and dying world (2 Corinthians 5:20); we live a life that is pure (1 Timothy 4:12), separated from the world. As we study Leviticus, we will also study the book of Hebrews, which is the answer to the Old Covenant, defined by our great High Priest, Jesus Christ. It is only through His atoning (expiatory) sacrifice that we are allowed to enter into His Holy Presence, thereby making us His royal priesthood.

Teacher: Sean Housman
Credits: 2

This course is a survey of the book of Judges. We will see the book of Judges in the historical context of the period of the history of Israel in which there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes (Judges 21:25). We will also be looking at the lives of those who God raised up during this period to deliver Israel from their oppressors. They were definitely heroes, but they were faulty heroes.

I and II Samuel

Teacher: Sean Housman
Credits: 2

I and II Samuel is a survey of the two books as well as gaining light from various Psalms and portions of 1st Chronicles. There will be an emphasis on God's work in David's life, shaping him to be the king of Israel. We will see this in its historical context of the transitional period in Israel from the times of the prophets to the establishment of a hereditarial monarchy, and the Davidic Covenant. The purpose of this class is that we, after seeing God's faithfulness in David's life, would narrow our desire down to one thing, even as David did. As it is written, "One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in His temple. For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion: in the secret of His tabernacle shall He hide me; He shall set me up upon a rock." Psalms 27:4-5
