FAQs 1.) How much does the School of Online Education cost? Cost is $100.00 per credit with all courses between 2-3 credits apiece. A $50.00 admin fee will be applied to each course. This does not include the cost of textbooks, which will be added to the tuition cost at the time of purchase. Your textbooks will be shipped within the first week of your official start date. 2.) Is financial aid available? The School of Online Education does not offer financial aid. However, as tuition is due and payable upon registration, and we accept registration year around, many students find it beneficial to register for classes successively, rather than paying for several at once. You may also want to check your home church's policy on scholarships. 3.) What is the difference between the School of Online Education and the School of Correspondence Education? The School of Online Education is a web based study program consisting of audio/visual recordings of class sessions. Through the School of Correspondence Education, students are sent class recordings through the mail, accompanied by a course guide that outlines all requirements. Both programs contain the same tuition costs (though correspondence necessitates additional shipping charges and fees for paper materials) to be completed within a similar sixteen week timeframe. The School of Correspondence Education may be a better option for students who are unable to sit at a computer for an extended period of time, have difficulty reading off of a screen, are deficient in basic computer skills, or would simply prefer to have a hard copy of all course related materials in their possession. There is no deadline to apply to the School of Online Education as we accept new students on a continual basis year around. 5.) What software/system requirements will my computer need? Do I need to purchase any additional hardware? You must have Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher, and a current version of Windows Media Player. You will also need to download a free version Adobe Acrobat Reader 7.0 to access many of the class notes and other documents. A high speed internet connection (DSL, cable) will greatly assist download time and site navigation. As all class information is available on the site, you will not need to purchase any hardware items at this time. 6.) What format are the courses in? Courses are recorded from live class sessions at the Murrieta main campus and can be accessed in streaming audio or downloaded to your computer. Several courses also include video, with more to be added over time. Courses are broken down by lecture and assignment and are to be completed at the student's own pace. All courses consist of lecture note taking, several papers and a final exam. Exams are un-proctored, open note, without time limit, and automatically graded; but, once submitted, are final. All lecture notes and papers are to be uploaded directly to the site. Each student is given up to four months to complete each course. 7.) Is there a certain order in which I must take the courses? We require that all new students fulfill their first four (4) courses by selecting from the following course offering: Bibliology, Genesis, Revelation, Hermeneutics, History of Redemption, Matthew, Apologetic Evangelism, Romans, Christian Living, Old Testament Survey I, & Introduction to Practical Christian Ministry After this requirement is completed, you may select from any of our additional courses Transfer and supplement students from the Murrieta main campus, affiliate campuses, or School of Correspondence Education may begin with the courses of their choosing. 8.) What are the requirements for graduation? All students (whether enrolled under Associate, Bachelor's or Certificate programs) must complete 80 credits in order to graduate. These must consist of 30 credits of Bible classes, 12 credits of Required Core classes, 12 credits of Old and New Testament Surveys, 4 credits of Practical Christian Ministry, and 22 additional elective credits of the student's choosing. These requirements are outlined and can be tracked with the graduation worksheet. 9.) What degrees are available through the School of Online Education? The School of Online Education offers the Associate of Theology ( A.Th .), Bachelor of Biblical Studies (B.B.S.), and the Certificate of Completion program* and is licensed to grant degrees as a religious exempt institution by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education (School Code #3602671). Each program is unaccredited, contains identical course curriculum and is completed online, with no residency requirement. CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION This program of study is identical to the Associate and Bachelor's degree programs and is designed for students who do not desire to enroll into a degree program, have learning disabilities, or have not met the standard admission requirements of high school completion or equivalency. All coursework will be graded on a pass/fail (no GPA) basis. The pass/fail grading system will not transfer courses into a degree program with a GPA, however, tuition and fees are identical to the degree programs. A total of 80 semester credits must be completed with the same distribution and requirements as the Associate and Bachelor's degree programs to be awarded the certificate. ASSOCIATE OF THEOLOGY ( A.Th .) This program of study is open to students who have completed high school, G.E.D., or have successfully completed the California High School Proficiency Exam, or its equivalent. BACHELOR OF BIBLICAL STUDIES (B.B.S.) This program of study is intended for students who have completed at least two years (60 semester credits) of transferable general education coursework at an approved/accredited institution as evidenced by transcript evaluation. Additionally, the student must successfully complete 80 semester credits through the School of Correspondence to be awarded the degree. *Calvary Chapel Bible College School of Online Education does not offer a Masters degree, nor does it ordain pastors or ministers. 10.) How long do I have to complete the program? You have seven years from the beginning of your first course to complete the graduation requirements. The program can be completed in less time as each student studies at his or her individual pace, but seven years is the maximum allotted time. 11.) Does the School of Online Education operate on a traditional semester schedule? One of the benefits of studying with Calvary Chapel Bible College School of Online Education is that we offer all courses year around without the limitations of a traditional semester/quarter system. You may select your course(s) and make your tuition payment at any time, and will be able to login to the site and begin your course(s) within 48 hours of verification of payment. You will have four months to complete all course requirements. The four months are counted from either the 15 th or the 30 th of the month of enrollment, depending on whether you enrolled between the first and the fourteenth, or the sixteenth and the twenty ninth of the month. |
